Counsellor

Hi I’m Aileen, I have been passionate about counselling for many years. I have worked in an NHS setting providing counselling services in Cardiff to people from all walks of life helping them with a large variety of issues they have been facing.

It always amazes me how much talking helps people get perspective in their lives and allows them the space to make decisions about the things that effect them. I am used to dealing with issues ranging from extreme crisis situations to helping people who just feel a bit stuck in their lives. I have always been a good listener so found these skills were well suited to being a counsellor.

Give me a call and we can have a chat about how counselling can help you.

Counsellor

Hello, I’ve recently joined The Body Mind Clinic having previously run my private practice in Cowbridge. I qualified as a counsellor in 2011 and enjoy helping people from all walks of life. My clients come to me with a range of issues they seek help with including; anxiety, depression, attachment & relationship issues, obsessive compulsive disorder, bereavement & loss, abuse, addiction, self-harm, living with autism, post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociation, issues around self-worth and more.

Currently in addition to private practice I am also a lead counsellor working within a Health Board funded team providing community counselling services.

As part of the therapeutic process I will address and work through the issues that you are experiencing difficulty with at a pace and depth that is right for you. It’s important to me that you feel in control and we are working towards change that has meaning for you.

I can give you more detail on the process and methodologies I employ when we speak where I can also tailor my advice to your individual circumstances. I am happy to have a chat on the phone first so you can then decide if you’d like to come in for a counselling session.

Hi I’m Helen, I work here at Connected Counselling at The Body Mind Clinic as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I love my job and the fact that I work so closely with my clients as we work together through the various issues we all encounter on this rollercoaster of life! I have quite a varied experience from working with individuals with emotional difficulties to those who have had difficult and traumatic experiences. I am person centred which mean I place you at the heart of our working relationship. By working to heighten awareness through warmth, openness and presence, my aim is to create a safe space for clients to move forward with optimism and strength and to live happier and healthier lives. I’m very experienced in what I do and find that always helps put my clients at ease knowing they can talk to a professional in a safe environment.

I always suggest having at least a chat on the phone to see if you are comfortable in engaging in us working together. I’m also happy to meet face to face to see if you’d like to book in for an initial session. You should always be 100% happy in engaging in talking therapy as the dynamic between client and counsellor is pretty important! I look forward to meeting you.

Before embarking on a career in Psychotherapy I have spent over 30 years working in the NHS as a qualified Nurse and Health Visitor. I have undertaken further training running parallel within the mental health field. I have accredited qualifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Motivational Interviewing/Change Behaviour Management whilst working with individuals who are experiencing drug and alcohol and co-existing mental health difficulties. I have also a specialist interest in Post Natal Depression, supporting those women who are experiencing emotional and psychological ill health in the peri-partum period.
